I live in Nottingham and make, Bags and Purses, Tweed Bunnies and Brooches using both new and vintage fabrics, i.e. William Morris, Laura Ashley, Liberty, vintage English, French and American cotton, Irish, Harris and Welsh tweeds and linens from the early 1900s up to the present day.
I took up sewing as part of my recovery from Cancer treatment. After having my Tweed Scarf Bag spotted by a vintage dealer whilst out shopping and being commisioned to make some for her to sell i then shared a stall with my friend Debi at a couple of Fairs. Whilst at the last event i met Vicky who asked me to be on board her events. A photo shoot of my bags and bunnies took place with Paul Dale Photographer. With their help and lots of other people i have been making and selling via a selection of fairs.
My Bags and Purses are also for sale at
‘The Focus Gallery’ 108 Derby Rd, Nottingham.
My Purses, Bags and Flower Brooches, are stocked at the Suki Craft Gallery, 14 High St, Tutbury, Staffordshire, DE13 9LP.
In the North West, Velvet Purses are stocked at Staacks, West Kirby. Tweed Bags and Purses to follow in the Autumn.
As well as the day job dealing with students, I knit all year round and organise my team of knitters and sellers for the annual Easter Knitted Chick event every year, raising money for the Nottingham Breast Cancer Support Group. For example in 2014, ‘Team Janine’ raised in chick sales £1050.75 which was added to the Nottingham groups sales to raise a total of £4638.33. I also volunteered for a number of years at The Nottingham Breast Institute, helping out in the Coffee Shop and have organised three Charity Tea Parties for the above charity at The Debbie Bryan Studio, St Marys Gate, Nottingham.
Thanks to everyone who has helped and encouraged me over the last 8 years.
